While it seems everything we purchase in the United States comes from somewhere else, there are still plenty of products produced in America. And quality United States flags are one of those items.
Annin Flagmakers, the nation's oldest and largest flag manufacturer, has produced flags in America since 1847. Production is located in Virginia, Ohio and New York with every flag made using only American materials and American labor. There is no "outsourcing."
Annin began operations in 1820 on New York's busy waterfront making sails for ships. Pleased with the quality of the sails, the owners and captains of the ships asked Annin to produce United States flags. Annin's early location in lower Manhattan soon became known as "Old Glory Corner."
Annin is still a family business, with the sixth generation of the Annin family currently running the show. The company has a well deserved reputation for quality - from the creation of long lasting fabrics and inks to the dense embroidery of their rich star fields.
Annin's history is closely tied with important events in our nation's own history. One of Annin's early commissions were flags for the inauguration of Zachary Taylor as President in 1850. An Annin flag has been present at every presidential inauguration since Taylor. Annin flags have graced the opening ceremonies of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883, Commander Robert E. Peary's arrival at the North Pole in 1909 and Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd's conquest of the South Pole in 1930. It was an Annin flag that was raised by U.S. Marines atop Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima in 1945 and an Annin flag was planted by Apollo 11 astronauts in the first manned moon landing in 1969.
Whether you are looking for a large American flag for your home, business or boat, or a miniature American flag for your office, you can get one produced right here in the United States. Colorfastflags has been an Annin dealer since 1999.
