What Flag Material Should I Choose

Okay, your flag is tattered and torn and it is time for a brand new American flag.  Now you need to choose the flag material.  American flags are available in three distinct fabrics - nylon, polyester and cotton.  Each fabric is a good choice, but the best choice for you depends on where you fly your flag and how you want it to look.  Let's look at the attributes of nylon, polyester and cotton American flags.

Nylon is the most popular flag material and the one most widely used by flag manufacturers.  You can get any size American flag, from the very smallest to giant 30' x 50' flags, in this material.  All state, international, military and religious flags are also made of nylon.  Here's why.  Nylon provides excellent durability - it is going to stand up well to ultraviolet radiation from the sun and resist wind damage.  It also will fly in the lightest breeze, so your flag will often be at its most beautiful, truly "flying" in the wind.  Nylon also shows off brilliant colors.  After a rain, nylon flags dry quickly.  Nylon American flags up to 5' x 8' feature embroidered stars and sewn stripes.  Larger flags have appliqued stars.  Each nylon flag has canvas heading and large rust-proof brass grommets for hanging.

Nylon flags are considered the longest lasting - and are the ideal choice in high wind areas.  You can purchase a nylon American flag in all sizes, so if you are a homeowner in El Paso or an auto dealer in Oklahoma City, you are covered.  Nylon American flags withstand the damaging twin effects of sun and wind.  They are highly recommended for commercial and industrial use where the flag is flown 24 hours each day.  Nylon American flags up to 5' x 8' have embroidered stars and sewn stripes.  Larger flags have appliqued stars.  Each polyester flag has canvas heading and large rust-proof brass grommets.

Cotton American flags are the traditional choice for an old-fashioned look and feel.  Cotton has a soft, rich appearance and texture.  It's the way flags used to be made.  Designed primarily for home use, cotton American flags are available up to 6' x 10'.   Cotton American flags have embroidered stars and sewn stripes.  Each cotton flag has canvas heading and large rust-proof brass grommets.
