Star Spangled Banner

When the British Navy attacked Fort McHenry on the night of September 13, 1814, this was the flag that waved gallantly throughout its defense. Francis Scott Key, a hostage on the British Frigate "Surprise", saw the Fort's defense and that the flag still waved, was inspired to write the words of our National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner."
